Who would argue that the Langdale Valley is not one of the best fell walking areas in the Lake District?
The cottage is beautifully situated on the Dungeon Ghyll side of Chapel Stile. It has spectacular views of Lingmoor Fell across the valley and the Langdale Pikes further up the valley.
Langdale is a walkers paradise and there are many high level walks in the area some of which will test even the fittest walker. For the less energetic there are numerous lower level walks to enjoy and an abundance of visitor attractions within easy travelling distance. Windermere, Coniston Water, Grasmere and Rydal Water are only a short drive from the cottage. The other lakes, although a little further afield, are readily accessible by car or bus and a bus timetable will be in the cottage.
Lingmoor View is no more than a few minutes walk from Chapel Stile. Elterwater is a little further afield but still within easy walking distance. There are pubs in Chapel Stile and Elterwater, and others in the area, all of which serve excellent bar meals.
Accommodation
The cottage is all electric. There are night storage heaters in all rooms including the bathroom and additional electric heating appliances in case of need.
Cosy sitting room with open fire, two leather sofas, TV / DVD and Broadband / WiFi.
Front bedroom with double bed.
Back bedroom with two single beds.
Fitted kitchen/diner with microwave. There is a freezer compartment in the fridge.
Bathroom with a walk-in shower, heated chrome towel rail and wall heater. The bathroom was fully upgraded in December 2023.
Utility area off the kitchen with washing machine and dryer and a work top deep freeze with considerably more capacity than the freezer compartment in the fridge.
Outside
The Lingmoor View cottages face South West and from mid morning enjoy a sunny aspect. There are four folding canvas type chairs in the utility room should you wish to sit outside. They are set well back from the road which will be reassuring for families with young children.
Parking
There is a communal area of grass surrounded by metal railings in front of the cottages below which is the off road car parking area where there is one dedicated parking space for No 7. Parking directly in front of the cottage is only permitted on arrival and departure and to collect from and deliver to the front door anyone who may be disabled.
Booking Procedure
To provisionally book a stay you can call 015394 41680, email cottagescumbria@gmail.com or complete an online booking form for your selected cottage. If you prefer you can download and print a PDF booking form which you can send to us.
If the cottage is available it will be provisionally reserved for you.
We will require a deposit which is one third of the total price of your stay. If it’s one month or less before the start of your stay we require full payment. Payment can be made by Bank transfer (BACS), cheque or PayPal.
On receipt of your booking form and deposit we will confirm your reservation by email or post.
